Prof. Jacob Plange-Rhule

A wonderful friend

Dr Chris Atim

I worked with Prof on mutual health organisations (MHOs), the precursors to the NHIS, in Ashanti region in the early 2000s. He was an ardent supporter of the initiative, due to his interest in health financing and desire to find sustainable solutions to funding health care. In the same vein, he asked for a costing study to understand the real costs of providing health care at KATH so that they would know what the recurrent costs to be recovered from IGF should be.

I worked with him on health financing again when, as President of the GMA, he asked me to make presentations to his members. A well rounded professional indeed, his interests went well beyond the narrow areas of his medical specialties.

I was proud to count him as a friend and will dearly miss him.
