In the concrete jungle of medical school with its unique challenges and difficulties for young medical students, a smile and caring word are hardly common and are in some cases the only thing standing between giving up and pushing through. Prof Plange-Rhule was a reserve of this and much more. He was a true father, he paid attention to the needs of his students and was never in short supply of encouragement. The large physiology book was suddenly no longer intimidating because he made understanding concepts easy.
