“It’s okay to miss you,
It’s okay to cry.
Just know I’ll never forget you.
This isn’t a permanent goodbye”. Samantha M. Hann
It is an honor to write this tribute to Professor Jacob Plange-Rhule, a friend, colleague, teacher, scholar, educational administrator, husband, father, and son. From whatever perspective, he stood apart as someone special.
We are profoundly saddened at the death of Prof. Plange-Rhule, Rector, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Before his appointment as the Rector, Jacob was the Head of Department of Physiology, School of Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a position he held on several occasions and for several years. His hard work in the Department resulted in the forging of research links with partners in other universities. During his tenure as the Rector of the college, he continued to serve the Department of Physiology as a part-time Lecturer till his demise on10th April, 2020.
He was a teacher and researcher of the highest order. In a career spanning about 30 years, he was active and influential in training medical and paramedical professionals in both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was meticulous, amiable, affable and a very good team player. Attributes that endeared him to anybody he met. He got on well with his superiors, colleagues, and subordinates. He was a humble and a true gentleman who was committed to improving medical education in Ghana. Jacob was a passionate sportsman. He was a very good badminton player in his student days and early years of his profession. He was a keen golfer till his demise. He was an ardent supporter of Accra Great Olympics SC and Manchester United FC.
It will be difficult to fill the void created by your demise. We thank God for the opportunity to show our gratitude for the way you impacted our life.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Wife & Children, family and all his friends & loved ones.
