It’s been two weeks since you passed but the pain is still fresh.
In life you refused to be ordinary…..
And painfully, your death was not ordinary….
The medical world globally lost a colossus
There will never be your kind in our lifetime
Your even tempered calm nature endeared you to all from the cleaner to the president
You were never afraid to take uncharted territories and by so doing paved the way for many in the medical world especially your students to look into areas outside clinical practice.
You never hesitated to help people in whatever capacity you can and if it’s beyond your capacity you always knew someone who can help.
A simple note from you gave me access to some ‘big people’ who opened their doors to me due to your integrity.
Every medical student or doctor who encountered you have their personal story of how you mentored them on purpose or not.
Last weekend as I watched the One Week global celebrations of your transition, the pain eased a tiny bit because I realized YOURS WAS A LIFE WELL LIVED and like King David YOU SERVED YOUR GENERATION VERY WELL
My Lecturer, Mentor, Father and Friend Prof. Jacob Plange-Rhule, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID FOR ME.
REST IN PERFECT PEACE JP-R?
